2016 EUISSCA Supply Chain Sustainability Conference
The Alliance hosted its Annual Supply Chain Sustainability Conference in New Orleans on September 28th and 29th 2016. This year’s theme ‘Bias for Action’ was reflected throughout the agenda. While each of the close to 200 participants took their own actions from the event a few of the consensus highlights included:
- Mary Wroten, Sr. Manager Supply Chain Sustainability at Ford was our keynote speaker. She shared what is being done across Ford’s supply chain providing lots of inspiration and practical guidance for utilities and suppliers to consider.
- On the member panel we heard how a number of Alliance members are embedding sustainability into their procurement practices. Amongst other activities DTE and Con Ed shared how the Alliance Supplier Survey results are being included in their supplier scorecards. Exelon also shared how they are using the Alliance Environmental RFP Questions in their bid scoring to differentiate supplier performance.
- The release of the Alliance Packaging Voluntary Standard. This is the Alliance’s fifth voluntary standard. It provides both utility and supplier users with useful guidance on areas to reduce waste and costs or improve efficiency and effectiveness of packaging systems. All Alliance standards are available on our website.
Next year’s event is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 25th in Phoenix and we sincerely hope that you will plan on joining us there.
