• EPRI. Conducts research and development relating to the generation, delivery and use of electricity for the benefit of the public. An independent, nonprofit organization, we bring together scientists and engineers as well as experts from academia and the industry to help address challenges in electricity.
• World Business Council for Sustainable Development. A CEO-led organization of forward-thinking companies that galvanizes the global business community to create a sustainable future for business, society and the environment.
• World Resources Institute. A global research organization that spans more than 50 countries, with offices in the United States, China, India, Brazil, Indonesia and more. Our more than 450 experts and staff work closely with leaders to turn big ideas into action to sustain our natural resources—the foundation of economic opportunity and human well-being. Our work focuses on six critical issues at the intersection of environment and development: climate, energy, food, forests, water, and cities and transport.
• The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
• CERES. A non-profit organization advocating for sustainability leadership. We mobilize a powerful network of investors, companies and public interest groups to accelerate and expand the adoption of sustainable business practices and solutions to build a healthy global economy.
• Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) - procurement guidance. A non-profit organization whose mission is to support and recognize purchasing leadership that accelerates the transition to a prosperous and sustainable future.

• Greenbiz. Advances the opportunities at the intersection of business, technology and sustainability. Through its websites, events, peer-to-peer network and research, GreenBiz promotes the potential to drive transformation and accelerate progress — within companies, industries and in the very nature of business.
• Environmental Leader. The leading daily trade publication keeping corporate executives fully informed about energy, environmental and sustainability news. It is published by Business Sector Media LLC.

Management system standards and guidance

• International Organization for Standardization (ISO)14000, ISO 26000, etc. An independent, non-governmental international organization that brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
• EPA's Implementation Guide for Small and Medium Sized Businesses. Designed to explain environmental management system (EMS) concepts and to support and facilitate the development of EMS among small and medium-sized organizations. Implementation of an EMS is a voluntary approach to improving environmental performance.

Reporting standards

• Global Reporting Initiative An international independent organization that helps businesses, governments and other organizations understand and communicate the impact of business on critical sustainability issues such as climate change, human rights, corruption and many others.
• Carbon Disclosure Project. We motivate companies and cities to disclose their environmental impacts, giving decision makers the data they need to change market behavior.
• Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Developed by World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD), sets the global standard for how to measure, manage, and report greenhouse gas emissions.

Standards, ratings, certifications

• Local Green Business Program (e.g. greenbusinessca.org). The California Green Business Program leads the state and nation in working with small to medium sized businesses to grow a vibrant and healthy green economy. Led by a coalition of cities and counties, we contribute to more livable communities with healthier environments, while also conserving resources and saving money.
• DJSI (financial index). Since the launch of the globally renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) series in 1999, RobecoSAM has been driving innovation in the fields of ESG investing. Built on the strength of our rigorous internal analytics and research, we have been pioneers in the development, construction and application of indices specifically for use by the asset management industry and more broadly in driving the ESG movement worldwide.
• Ecolabel Index. Ecolabel Index is the largest global directory of ecolabels, currently tracking 465 ecolabels in 199 countries, and 25 industry sectors.
